In the early years of secondary school students also follow the English National Curriculum (again adapted to our context) which offers a healthy breadth and balance in its approach.
Once again however, the approach to delivering this curriculum is informed and enhanced by our commitment to IBO ideals. For example, all students in Key Stage 3 take a subject called “Learning to learn”.
This is a bespoke course designed to help students understand and take ownership by becoming increasingly reflective and metacognitive learners.
It is also ideal preparation for the Theory of Knowledge element of the IB Diploma later on. Students also take a bespoke course in LEGO Robotics through which, as well as developing their technological and digital knowledge and skills, the aims are to improve students’ teamwork, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
So in summary, during KS3 students follow the following subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- French
- Geography
- History
- Music
- Drama
- Art
- PE
- Lego Robotics
- IT
- Learning to Learn
- Food Technology
- PSHE
