This stage encompasses Years 3-6 with children aged from 7-11 years. We follow the National
Curriculum for England with some modification to acknowledge the importance of our Ugandan setting.
We aim to create a learning environment that is full of energy, enthusiasm and creativity where children are encouraged to ask questions, explore and apply their ever increasing levels of skills and knowledge to new situations.
Children are taught in mixed ability classes with both a teacher and assistant teacher. They receivespecialist classes in French, Art, ICT, Music and P.E each week.
Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Geography, History and PHSE are taught through topic work in the classroom. The curriculum is organised within a framework of topics where essential skills, knowledge and concepts are connected through a common theme.
Guided reading groups regularly take place where children receive small group attention to specific skills and are encouraged to develop their love of reading.
Parents in all stages of the school receive regular reports on the progress of their children and arewelcome to meet with teachers through the open door policy of the school. We recognize and encourage the important role that parents play in their child’s education so we endeavour to make parents feel welcome, valued, listened to and fully informed.
