Library

At KISU, we regard the Library / Media Centre as the focal point of the learning experience, providing children and staff with information and reading materials, as well as teaching and learning resources. There are two libraries with approximately 27,000 books in total; one library for Early Years and Key Stage 1, and the main library for Key Stage 2 and Secondary.  Through the use of exciting displays, children are encouraged to enjoy reading for pleasure.

Libraries are the hub of our school and they are extremely well stocked with resources. They are particularly successful in providing a warm and comfortable environment for reading and information sourcing. These libraries also provide access to a variety of literature in other languages, particularly Spanish and French.

There is always a librarian  to assist with finding information from the different resources in the libraries. The main library is open from 8.00am– 4.00pm on weekdays and 9.00am-2.00pm on Saturdays. There are a number of computers installed in the main library. The Reference Section has a wide range of selected resource materials where teachers, children and parents all have access. In the Early Years and Key Stage 1 library, there is a stock of general reading and guided readers for primary students; Oxford Reading Tree, Rhymes World etc. These are also used by teachers in their classes according to different levels of reading.
